“Like the marathon, life can sometimes be difficult, challenging and present obstacles, however if you believe in your dreams and never ever give up, things will turn out for the best.” – Meb Keflezighi, U.S. Olympic marathoner
Chapter 4 - NYC Experience with friends
Having lived here for 10 years, I am inspired by the city and would share my experiences with my future classmates.
I a avid runner. I lost 20 pounds a few years ago and discovered my own path to a healthy, active life on running.
I am always willing to invite friends to visit the best part of city.
We will go Brooklyn to visit the botanical gardens,
take a ferry to Williamsburg,
head to the Bronx to cheer for the Yankees….with Neil Patrick
Chapter 3 - Food and Sharing
I love to cook. More specifically, I love the things you learn about a culture by cooking their food.
For example, German recipes are very specific with their recipes. When I make Schweinshaxe, a classic German dish, I’ve learned to use scales to weigh out the precise measure of ingredients in the recipe, as the Germans do.
When cooking Chinese food, I seek out the specific chili ingredients in Chinatown and act on instinct, using my imagination.
As a young working professional, I also enjoy cooking pasta, the quintessential meal for a city-dweller: fast, simple and delicious.
I want to bring my passion to campus by organizing monthly events in which we share food with classmates from their respective cultures. Through our culinary interactions, we will share, connect, and explore not only our own cultures but Cornell Community together!
Chapter 2 - Entrepreneur
As an engineer in JP Morgan, I have been experimenting with different ways to apply advanced technology to reduce finance risk in the global bond market. Last year, Max and I explored the application of big data and machine-learning to bond research work at JP Morgan and created tools to predict market changes and notify clients when to reduce market risk.
We both setup standing desk so we can stand up and discuss problem more freely.
With six working colleagues, I started a Fintech business project to build a personal lending and finance management platform. Our plan was to build on risk management tools for consumer level lending or investment level portfolio analysis.
Though we had the technical knowledge to execute this vision, our lack of management and finance skills led to the company’s demise after nearly two years. When I look back at the experience, I realized that a commitment to ideals wasn’t sufficient. I needed to diversify my skillset beyond technology to develop a deeper understanding of finance, strategy, and marketing.
Chapter 1 - Aulting
I came to New York City around 2008, lived in a cozy apartment in East Village and luckily found a piano!
I applied the Event VP position at Master Association of Computer Science and held the first event discussion at Coney island beach.
My first lesson from NYU.
Worked as a volunteer at Bronx High School of Science, we helped high school student learn python to code their first game.
